Moses Mountain Communications Facility

This site is located at the top of Moses Mountain, approximately 15 miles north of Nespelem, WA and 6 miles east of State Highway 20. This site served as a lookout for the Mt. Tolman Fire Management Center before construction of a communications facility that currently occupies the site. In July and September 2007, cleanup activities included removing approximately 5 cubic yards of solid waste from five locations at the site, removing a 20x8x8 steel shipping container, excavating contaminated soil located beneath and adjacent to the removed steel shipping container and from one waste pit located northeast of the shipping container, collecting confirmation samples from the base of the soil excavation and submitting samples for chemical analysis, removing 33 sealed lead-acid batteries.
